A photo showing the moment a quick-thinking US police officer saved the life of a choking newborn has gone viral. Officer Donald Venable was responding to a domestic call on Thursday morning in Sunland, New Mexico, when he heard reports over his radio of a baby with breathing difficulties about two blocks away.
He rushed to the scene and performed a life-saving measure on the child.
Sunland Park Police Department Chief Jaime Reyes said: “Officer Venable did what he was trained to do and saved the baby.” He said the policeman happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Since the picture, taken by another officer, was posted on Facebook on Thursday evening, it has been shared hundreds of times. Officer Venable said: “Any of my brothers and sisters in blue would have done the same thing.
