The oldest memory I have of using turmeric is that of taking it with milk. So here I discuss how turmeric when used with milk can be beneficial for various health problems and some common ways of preparing your turmeric milk. Turmeric has been used as a spice in Indian recipes and as Ayurvedic medicine for many thousands of years. Turmeric offers many health benefits since it has both anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.

Recipe for milk with turmeric or (Haldi Doodh):

  1. Take a 1 inch turmeric piece.
  2. Boil for 15 minutes in milk.
  3. Strain out the turmeric.
  4. Cool and drink this milk.

Benefits Of Turmeric Milk (Haldi Milk):

Respiratory Illness: It is useful for treating illnesses related to the respiratory system, since the spice heats up your body and provides quick relief from lung congestion and sinuses. This is also an effective remedy to cure asthma and bronchitis.

Cancer: This milk prevents and stops the growth of breast, skin, lung, prostate, and colon cancers, since it has anti-inflammatory properties. This prevents the cancer cells from damaging the DNA and reduces the side effects of chemotherapy.

Anti-Inflammatory: Turmeric milk is anti-inflammatory, and can prevent and protect from arthritis and stomach ulcers. It is also known as ‘natural aspirin’ in Ayurvedic medicine and can cure headaches, swelling and pain.
