Prem Thakur, a 19-year-old lad from Mumbai, fashioned his own car from scratch after self-teaching himself the mechanics of it by watching YouTube videos! With limited financial means and no knowledge about engineering, Thakur was determined to learn. With the help of YouTube tutorials, he gleaned everything he wanted to know and put together this awesome buggy car for himself – which he often takes out for a spin in Navi Mumbai.

Prem had always been fascinated with cars since childhood, and first started learning about them when his father got him a computer. Prem took only 4 months to built his car. In four months time, he wielded the car from the chassis up and painted it all by himself.

“If I didn’t have internet connection of my own, it would not have been possible to build this myself,” says Prem. Prem’s father, who is a rickshaw puller, saved money to fund his son’s ambitions. Building the car cost Thakur Rs 2.5 lakh but with the support of his family, he was able to make his dream a reality. The Buggy even has a few fancy features, from cool side-blinkers to a music system with USB port.

Prem harbors a dream of becoming an automobile engineer someday, and hopes to drive his car on a professional race track.
